The International Youth Office (BIJ)

The International Youth Office (IYB) of the Wallonia-Brussels Federation, each year opens up prospects for the future to thousands of young people.

He chose Teemew to continue his work and further strengthen its scope.

An essential mission

State organization, the BIJ’s mission is to help young Belgians carry out their projects. It shows them the existing opportunities and helps them to make their choice, whether it is to learn a language, to follow a training course, an internship or volunteering, or even to carry out a citizen project. He informs them about the funding and accompanies them in their efforts.

The virtual opens a horizon

The 2020 health crisis had left some of the young people discouraged and desperate. The work of the BIJ was all the more important. It was necessary to allow the youth to find themselves, to give them perspectives, a horizon.

The BIJ then called on Manzalab’s expertise and chose Teemew, a virtual event creation solution. This is how Horizons was born, a 100% virtual and 100% interactive exhibition.

Teemew allowed the participants to attend conferences, participate in activities, and especially to exchange live, to feel again the presence of the other, in short to find the necessary human interaction.

unforgettable and immersive

experience

The customization and realism of the avatars allowed for greater immersion by strengthening engagement. Thus, the virtual exchanges were naturally more participatory and active than in a classic videoconference.
The diversity of the multiple spaces created and the features offered has generated the sharing of a quantity of content. During three days, various activities responding to specific themes offered young people concrete proposals to support their mobility projects.
In contact with about fifty partners, the participants were able to discover and discuss opportunities to increase their skills and successfully carry out their entrepreneurial or associative projects.

The figures of success

The figures collected after the virtual event attest to its success:

    • The Show held more than 250 activities over the 3 days of the show.
    • 91% of the registrants participated in the event.
    • More than 700 people connected.
    • An increase in registrations to social networks and the BIJ newsletter has been observed.

The BIJ received a number of positive feedbacks:

    • The event conveyed a positive image of youth in the media.
    • A large number of participants then contacted the BIJ for additional information.
    • A significant increase in subscriptions to the BIJ’s social networks and its newsletter has been observed.

The press was dithyrambic, headlining for example “Horizons: a 2.0 salon to open perspectives for young people” (Le Soir), “Horizons, a salon with an evocative name… of perspectives ” (La Libre) and highlighting its innovative character: “the show is very original, it’s a mix between a virtual world and a video game ” (RTBF).
In sum, the BIJ’s expectations for its first 100% virtual trade show have been exceeded.
